iiNet is an Australian Internet Service Provider and a leading challenger in the telecommunications market. We're committed to making it simple for all Australians to get online across both our own networks and the exciting nbn™ technologies. Our vision is to lead the market with services that harness the potential of the Internet and then differentiate with award-winning customer service. We employ more than 2,500 enthusiastic staff across four countries - 80 per cent of whom are employed to directly service nearly one million customers

Right now, iiNet is hunting for a top-notch Programmer who is interested in working with some of the best and brightest programmers in the ISP space from our Perth office. You'll be joining a team presenting the iiNet range of products to the world. Technology is primarily Perl, C#.NET and Java, though we have a bunch of other stuff in our stack, so life is never dull. We're fast-paced and agile, as getting the product to the customer is uber-important to us.

What you'll do:

  • Develop the applications essential to support and strengthen our market position
  • Produce high-quality code using one or more of our technology platforms: Perl, Java, and .NET
  • Perform software engineering of distributed and scalable applications which span computer networks, databases, systems integration points and user interfaces
  • Deliver product features and customer service solutions in a fast-paced and agile environment
  • Apply automation, pragmatic design consideration, industry-leading methodology and expert judgement to increasing the value of our in-house software systems

What you'll need:

  • A passion for programming: creating and delivering value via code should be part of your core; Industry or Community involvement (e.g. F/OSS contribution) highly regarded
  • Commercial experience in an enterprise software development role
  • Demonstrated experience using an enterprise development platform such as Java or .NET would be preferred
  • Exposure to Perl, or willingness to learn, particularly in an ISP context - highly regarded
  • Demonstrated competence in source code control using Git – highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • An ability to manage change and embrace new challenges with a positive, 'can do attitude' and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively within your team and across the business using an engaging and inclusive interpersonal style
  • Reliability and self-assurance: As a member of technical staff you'll be expected to fulfil the functions of the role without any micro-management
  • An eye for good design: the ability to quickly recognise and re-use a solid design pattern or UI construct without getting distracted by the latest development trend

It won't hurt if you have:

  • Experience working in a large, collaborative professional software development team
  • ISP/Telecommunications industry experience – but don't worry if you don't; we're happy to teach you what we know!

So if all this sounds like your kind of show, let's get together and talk it over. Follow the 'apply now' prompts to get the ball rolling… Go on... be one of us!
