iiNet's Melbourne Development team is looking for an experienced Perl OO Programmer.  To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate your knowledge and experience of the following technologies and skills:

• Tertiary Degree qualified, with a minimum of 5 years industry experience
• Perl programming
• Bash, vim, SVN and git
• DB2, Oracle or MySQL
• UML and OOA&D process documentation
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Team Player and experienced working both independently and under close supervision
• Leadership and mentoring experience
• Ability to make major architectural decisions
• Deep understanding of the business drivers, ability to develop tactical plans to support strategy
• Comfortable working with stakeholders of all levels
• Methodical and Quality driven
• Proactive and good at taking ownership of problems until they are solved

Knowledge and experience of the following is desirable:

• XML and XSD in a TIBCO SOA environment
• Modern::Perl, DBIx::Class, Test::More, Moose
• JIRA and Crucible/FishEye development tools
• Exposure to Debian, Ubuntu and RedHat Linux
• Experience writing and running Perl unit tests
• Experience with Continuous Integration testing and frameworks
• Exposure to C# and .Net technologies

You do not need a lot of experience in the ISP or Telecommunications industry: We are happy to teach you what we know.

We seek someone who knows how to solve complex software development problems and lead the team to achieve this. You will work with business stakeholders to manage technical roadmaps and feature sets, and influence technology and business outcomes. You must know Perl 5: If you are comfortable with C# and .Net, then that is a plus. You must have the experience and confidence to make major architectural decisions.
